The Christmas Village

December is quickly slipping by, and just like everyone, we have been busy doing all the traditional stuff.

Tree Hunting
Gift shopping
Holiday parties
Going to Las Vegas
Baking cookies
Decorating
Making cards
Making gifts

Ok, so maybe the Las Vegas thing is not traditional, but I had to do that for work. The totally sad thing is that I didn't even walk the strip and only played the slots at the airport (and won $3... don't all line up with your hands out.)

I want to share pictures of our Christmas Village. It has gotten so big - really need to find a better way to set it all up. I wish I had a baby grand on which to display it. We add a building or large item each year, a tradition that began the year we married. The yearly purchase has to have something to do with our lives that year, hence the church on the far left from 1992. The school was added the year Jacob started first grade, the warehouse the year Dave became a manager, and this year a chocolate shop to commemorate our first trip to Hershey. The ship was added the year we went on a cruise, and the manor house was acquired the year we bought our new house. Even most of the figurines have something to do with our lives that year, although if it were up to Jacob we would have twice as many figurines.

Very cool tradition! I love how each building matches what happened in your lives-such wonderful memories to see each time you get it all out.
