Deck the Halls

I love to decorate for Christmas. I love to pull out to boxes from our storage room and reacquaint myself with all of my holiday treasures. The nutcracker collection that I have been displaying on the bookshelves in the library. The homemade Advent Calendar that Louise made for us about ten years ago. Our Dickens Village from Department 56 and all of the misc. accessories that go with it. The stockings, stocking holders and mantel decorations.

But my favorite boxes are always the tree decorations and the annual tradition of hot chocolate and a fire as we place them all on the tree. I love to take them out, one by one, and remember how we got it, who made it, and all of the other memories attached to that one little object. I love that we now have a wonderful collection of handmade ornaments by the artist known as JACOB. And I love that he has begun to remember when and how we made them. And I even love that I lose Dave and Jacob about one box in to the decorating. It is a tradition, after all.

If you are looking for some handmade ornament ideas, head over to Scrapjazz and check out my newest article. I have made some inexpensive and quick ornaments, using paper mache shapes and scrapbooking supplies. Be sure to come back with a link to what you make!
