Back to School Shopping

August has always meant back to school shopping, although I am not sure why we don't wait until September to buy the news clothes, because who wants to wear new FALL clothes in August? And now that Virginia has designated the first weekend in August as tax free weekend, we are forced into starting the process early. (our school starts after Labor Day here) How can we think about back to school when it is more than 100 degrees outside?

Anyway, I did a little back to school shopping training in Orlando this past Wednesday with Karen and Jennifer. Those girls can really shop, and they even managed to strong arm me into buying two Coach bags. We then stuffed oursleves into oblivion at Cheesecake Factory, where I had the mixed berry custard cheesecake (I knew my blog readers would ask that important question.) Of course, carrying around the shopping bags on that trip prepared me for my shopping tonight.

Jacob scored two pairs of Levis, some camo cargo shorts, and six shirts at JC Penney. They were having such a good deal - another side benefit to the tax free weekend. (I got all that for $94) He also bought two Webkins - the panda bear and the racoon. Essential for back to school, right? Also essential was the stop in Pottery Barn where I browsed and picked up a fun paper clip and a little bowl on clearance ($2.49) to perfectly match the waste bin I posted earlier this week. I also picked up a Willow Tree figurine by which to remember my Calico.

Now, boy fashion sense is not exactly the same as girl fashion. I was surprised Jacob did not protest the excursion - although I think the Webkins potential had something to do with that. He did have some opinions on his shirt designs, and that was about all I got from him. Have you seen all the shirts with lists and jokes about school, homework and parents? Part of me thinks they are rude, but another parts just has to giggle at them. He loves them - so he was allowed to get three: Homework Kills Trees, modeled below, I didn't do my Homework Because, and Excuses for Not Going to school (he had perfect attendance last year). I'll try to get shots of the other two shirts between now and the start of school.

Oh, and I couldn't resist a little Levis Bum Shot.

You did well with your shopping and that bowl matches perfectly :) I'm so glad our kids wear uniforms right through school over here - no thinking about what to wear or anything :)
