Fair Fun!

This week is the Prince William County Fair - the largest county fair in Virginia. At least that is what they say on the radio. Jacob decided this year that he wanted to go, probably because he heard me talking about the Demolition Derby. And he also says they have cows at the fair. You know, because it is a COWnty Fair, and all. Isn't he a goof?

Anyway, we leave work a little early and arrive at the gates at 6:55. Obviously, the Demolition Derby is the most popular event, because we end up sitting on the grass, sandwiched between a man with a mohawk and a pack of smoking teenagers. And it was a great time - picking a favorite and watching them bash each other until sparks flew and cars flipped. We watched five heats, bummed that the mini vans had run the previous night. But then, we drive the DC beltway and get to see them in fender benders on a daily basis.

And what would a night at the fair be without fair food? Corn dogs, sausage sandwich, steak and cheese, cotton candy, fried dough, and fresh lemonade. All calorie free of course, because we ate while walking. A walk through the animal barns and a ride on the huge ferris wheel wrapped up the night - and wiped us out of money. Good times.

Sounds like a great time! But you never told us if you actually saw any cows?

Ha.....

ps: yes, we saw cows - lots of them. And goats and sheep and chickens and rabbits. Yes, even the chickens (I hate chickens)

And pigs? Was there a greased pig catching contest? (I'm with you on the chickens, the only good chicken is a deep fried chicken).

Love that pic of the ferris wheel!
