Patriotism

We on this continent should never forget that men first crossed the Atlantic not to find soil for their ploughs but to secure liberty for their souls. ~Robert J. McCracken

July brings us many things, but topping the list for me is the celebration of our country's independence and the reminder of what it means to be an American. It is about the men and women who came to this country in search of freedom to make their own choices. It is about the sacrifices made to give that opportunity to future generations. Being American is about equality, pride, courage and honor. This month is a reminder that I am blessed to be an American, and a reminder to strive for all that it stands.

My banner is new - and has a little story behind it. Remember the plates I ordered? They are still on my sidebar if you don't. I searched for a digital kit that had the same look without much success. I whined to Libby, who spoke to her friend Chere Edwards, who then proceeded to make a fantastic kit with the plates as inpiration. Her kit is just beautiful and perfect for all your patriotic layouts (and much more!) I also added a vector image from iStockphoto, one of my favorite websites for stock photography and images.

Happy July - hope you have many opportunities to celebrate your patriotism!
