The Nation's Capital

I may vent (and pretty frequently) about the traffic in our city. I may curse at how overpopulated the area has become (sadly, at the expense of wildlife and trees). But I really do love living in this pretty area.

I started this book several months ago and finally finished it up. We moved to the Washington area in 1991, but our first visit to see the blossoms was not until 2003. Can you believe it took us that long? They were absolutely breathtaking. And the crowds, at least for this, seemed appropriate and part of the beauty of the day.

If you have never been to see the Cherry Blossoms - you really must!

And speaking of Washington - is anyone else rooting for the Caps in the playoffs? I was saddened today by their loss in game two, but just a little happy that I now get to go to the game next weekend! If you are there - Dave and I will be in section 405 (and blaming AOL for the poor seats since the pre-sale anouncement went into my SPAM folder.)

Ever since our youngest son played for the Little Caps (with Dale Hunter's and Craig Laughlin's sons) and acquired Peter Bondra's signed stick and Jaromir Jagr's jersey, we've been captive hockey parents and Caps fans. Although our son now plays college hockey, he still comes home to see Caps games. Please add our cheers to yours this weekend, while we're away in Nashville.

How beautiful! The cherry blossoms were in full bloom when I was evacuated out of Pakistan in Spring 2002. It was so amazing to come from poverty/war to the beauty of the District in full bloom.
Unfortunately, the shine wore off over the years & I haven't been back down to see the blossoms again. I always wrinkle my nose at the crowds and the traffic and the hassle. Thanks for inspiring me & making me want to go back to see them again!

Such a beautiful album Jennifer - the street we live in is lined with Cherry blossoms and it looks so spectacular when they're all out in bloom :)

Beautiful work!! I've been to see the Cherry Blossoms (around the same time you went the first time, actually! lol!) They are breathtaking. Equally as beautiful is Pennsylvania in the Fall. Ahhhhhhh!!!

Your book and photos are gorgeous. We will definitely have to come out and see them in person some day!
