Shopfest 2006

The girl's weekend of shopping finally here! As I type, a carload of four shopping crazed women is just an hour away from my house. My sister-in-law, my niece, and their two friends are driving down from Pennsylvania to do a little back to school shopping during Virginia's tax free weekend. And while we are fully aware that Pennsylvania does not have tax on clothing, it isn't about the savings.

It is about my 14 year old niece and her birthday at the end of them month. This is her birthday trip, and what better place to take that trip that to a metropolitan area full of stores like Hollister, Abercrombie and American Eagle?

Today’s agenda is pure bliss. Lunch at a Korean place that has a sushi bar, shopping at the outlet mall, then manicures and pedicures at the nail salon. And perhaps we will find time in there for Cold Stone Creamery and Starbucks.

So, with that description of my weekend, I will leave you with a few thoughts:

Shopping is a woman thing. It's a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase. Erma Bombeck

Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping. Bo Derek
