I did an article for Scrapjazz over the weekend, creating some handmade items (you'll have to wait to see those) and this item didn't make my cut for the article. I simply covered a wood chalkboard with paper and decorated it. The letters use a technique I learned from Tim Holtz, who said this is a technique used by many primitive or folk artists. I have included a close up so you can see it better. Here is what you do:1. Paint a base coat of paint and allow to dry. I used black.
2. Dab big globs of vaseline randomly over the painted letter.
3. Carefully apply paint over the letter, trying not to smudge the vaseline. I used metallic paints. Allow to dry completely.
3. Rub off vaseline with cloth or paper towel.
Other Supplies: Scenic Route Paper, Making Memories Rub-ons, Ink, wire and stars from Paper Source.

If this didn't make the cut, then the other projects must be wow ;) Never heard of that technique either!
