Things I Love

I am making a public apology right here, right now, for having neglected all of my favorite blogs. It's not so much that I haven't had time to blog, but that I don't have time to play with my paper and ink after I blog. So, I save my reading for when I have more time to play.

Anyway, I do want to point you my friend Dana's great new blog, Things I Love. Like me, Dana is a wonderful and talented shopper. She has a knack for finding great vintage items, and then using it all in her art. Stop by and give her some love!

And speaking of things I love, I am currently loving the color red. On a whim a few weeks ago, I decided that Jacob's bathroom needed a makeover with fresh red paint. I use the "Jacob's bathroom" very hesitantly, as he much prefers to use my bathroom and calls his "Beau's bathroom." All because the shower head is a handheld to make it easy to wash the dog. So, let me share the beginning of Beau's bathroom makeover.

New lighting fixture - a beautiful oil rubbed bronze. We'll hang it so that the lights go down.

The new showerhead, or at least the picture from their website. Jacob loves standing under the shower and is excited about having two showerheads. I let him pick out the ones he wanted, with only the rule of the bottom one being a handheld for Beau. He picked this combination, unfortunately, it doesn't come in the pretty bronze. If you know of one like this in bronze, please let me know!

This is the paint going on the walls.

Ok, not really. This is the primer color, which is a beautiful and bright pink. Poor Jacob thought we were really painting his bathroom pink.

The real color will be Chili Pepper from Benjamin Moore. There is one coat up on the wall as I type this, but it will need at least one more coat, probably two. We are also painting the cabinet a deep brownish black, and adding more bronze fixtures. I am leaning toward the ones below, but have not made a decision.

The last item we will be adding is a new mirror above both sinks. I want one smaller than the standard builder mirror, and this is the one I have found so far. Again, no final decision yet.

We should have the room finished before Jacob moves out.

Bronze is my favorite too. And everything you selected is going to look fabulous in your new bathroom. I like the showerhead too. Must look into that for our bathroom.

Jen, you sound like us. We moved the stuff back into the bath room last night and all we need to do is touch up and caulking...

Oooh lovin' all your new bits and pieces. My poor old house is pretty boring when I see all of this nice stuff that has charm and character - an interior decorator I am not :(
